Water Companies 5 Year Plan - Have Your Say

This information is taken from the South East Rivers Trust Website. The full article and related information, including draft responses, can be found at the link below. Every five years, water companies in England are required to produce a Water Resources Management Plan (WRMP), which outlines how they intend to meet the expected water demands not just in the next five years but over the next 50 in their respective service areas. These plans take into account increasing population, climate change and growing risks of drought – while also protecting and enhancing the local environment. An important part of the WRMP plans is customer feedback on topics which concern them most. They are currently in draft form and out for public consultation.

Applications welcome from 6 February 2023
The Rivers & Wetlands Community Days programme is back for 2023, funding practical action by local people to make things better for their rivers and wetlands, now and into the future. Funded by Thames Water and run by a group including also the Angling Trust, Environment Agency, Institute of Fisheries Management and Wild Trout Trust, we’re looking to support projects big and small, from a couple of practical days with volunteers, through to larger-scale improvement work for rivers and wetlands.
We welcome applications from local, non-Governmental community groups working in the Thames Water catchment, including rivers and wildlife trusts, flood groups, countryside/catchment partnerships, angling clubs and conservation volunteers.
In the 2023 round of funding, we will seek to support both larger-scale projects, each up to £15K-£20K and small-scale projects up to £5K.
Applications will be open from 6th February 2023, closing on 13th March 2023.
Further details to follow, including the application criteria and application form.
You can see the full article here : https://www.wildtrout.org/news/rivers-wetlands-community-days-2023
This will coincide with the upcoming meeting of the LFCC on the 9th February as possible projects that might be proposed by clubs within the catchment.
Barbel-boosting bonanza for the lovely Loddon

The Environment Agency has boosted the barbel population in the River Loddon this winter, as fisheries officers released more than 300 marked juvenile barbel into the Whistley Mill, on the Reading and District Angling Association section near Twyford.
Anglers are asked to please report any captures of marked barbel to help the Environment Agency gather important information on their survival, growth rates and how far the fish are moving up and downstream. Photos should be taken on both sides of the fish and a record of the length and weight if possible. This information should then be sent to “Report a Barbel” (lfcc.org.uk).
