Some of our members of clubs who manage Trout Fishing sections of rivers within thew catchment may be interested in this, although it could be applicable on any river.

With their serene beauty and intriguing wildlife, it's no surprise that our chalk streams draw people to them. But when visitors leave they may not be alone: diseases and invasive species could be hitching a ride to their next destination. For streams that are under pressure, or are home to vulnerable species, this stealthy spread can spell disaster.

If you spend time in and around our chalk streams, you play a crucial role in their protection. There are easy ways to avoiding spreading problems like crayfish plague and Himalayan balsam, while still enjoying these beautiful places. Whether you're a paddler, an angler, or a river keeper, you can support our streams through better biosecurity.

In this talk, we'll learn how diseases and invasive species can impact the health of a chalk stream ecosystem. We'll hear about threats to watch out for in our region, and top tips for limiting their spread. This event is part of Watercress and Winterbournes, a Landscape Partnership Scheme that is protecting, enhancing, and celebrating seven local chalk streams.
