World Wetlands Day - LFCC Site visit to Fobney Wetlands Nature Reserve.

As part of World Wetlands Day, the Loddon Fisheries and Conservation Consultative organised a visit to the recently created wetlands site along side the River Kennett in Reading, Berkshire. Up until a few days prior, this event was the only one listed in the UK!!. Thankfully, other events soon appeared on the events calendar of the World Wetlands Day website.
As can be seen from the pictures, the snow falls from the days before nearly put pay to the visit but, although somewhat crisp under foot, the sun made the day very pleasant. A brisk walk along the banks of the River from the Cunning Man Public House in Burghfield to the main weir which separates the River from the canal, is where the group met up with Graham Scholey and Ade Bicknell from the Environment Agency. A big thank you to Graham and Ade for their time and talks on the formation and background of the wetlands.
