Requesting WFD Data For AT Water Quality Monitoring Network

EA Site Data Request Information for Water Framework Directive Phosphate/Ammonia Values.

For those of you who are taking part in the Angling Trust - Water Quality Monitoring Network and would like to obtain WFD target values as comparisons for your own readings then the information below may be helpful. This is by no means a complete list of all of the water bodies within the Loddon catchment but those probably being monitored by individuals or angling clubs.

You will need to supply information on the the stretch of river relative to your monitoring point from the list below, eg. (GB************), along with the main EA monitoring point (PLDR****), closest to your WQMN sample point. Remember, Phosphate & Ammonia levels are site specific based on the Altitude & Alkalinity of that stretch.

It would be useful to include a grid reference/map coordinate e.g SU???? ???? or 51.69875,-0.95365 for each of your WQMN monitoring points to aid in the information request for WFD Target Values for Phophate and Ammonia (If you checking for this). Remember there is no standards for Nitrates in rivers, only stillwaters!!!

Hanna Phosphate Colorimeter :

Reading will be given for Phosphate = Phosphorous + anything else.
To compare your Hanna Colorimeter readings with WFD status multiply the Colorimeter reading by the constant 0.3261. This will give you a value in terms of Phosphorous (which the EA data relates to), rather than Phosphate.

Please notice that WFD classifications are calculated using annual mean concentrations of 3 years of data, with a minimum of samples per year required.

The table above shows the type of data you should receive but relative to the site you requested. If you requested the data for ammonia as well, then this should be included.
