Angling Trust - Water Quality Monitoring Network (WQMN)
UPDATE - This scheme is now being rolled out nationally and kits will be available for clubs and anglers to monitor their stretches of River and log data.
For those of you that managed to attend the recent LFCC meeting or recieved the minutes by subscribing to our mailchimp notifications, you may well have looked at the link to the Angling Trusts Water Quality Monitoring Newtwork. With the ongoing issues of general pollution in our rivers and the excessive discharges of sewage, this would is an ideal oppertunity for those angling clubs with stretches of rivers, and especially those with nearby Sewage Treatment Works (STW) and/or Combined Sewage Outfalls (CSO), to monitor the water quality and feed back valuable data. The data is collected either via PC or a smartphone app.
The initail rollout of the scheme was in the River Severn Catcment but is due to be expanded nationally in the next couple of months. You can register your interest to take part in this by following the link above and emailing Kristian Kent at his address at the bottom of that page.
If there is sufficient intererst from clubs or individuals within the LFCC, there may be a possiblity of allocating some Fisheries Improvement Fund (FIP) money towards the cost of the testing kits. So if your part of a club and would be interested then please drop us an email at
