It's that time again: Open Chalk Streams returns this April! These free in-person events are a great way to explore our local area. On the roster this time we have a fishing beat, a riparian garden, and even an active watercress farm.
Most of the events are for small groups, and they always prove popular. So if you'd like to come along, don't wait to book your tickets. It's also worth joining the waiting list for any that take your fancy. We hope to see you there!

Talk recording
If you missed our recent talk on the environmental impact of septic tanks, you can now catch up online. Learn how sewage affects our chalk streams, and how the right management can help to keep off-mains sewage systems safe, legal, and effective.

Love to learn
Interested in chalk stream interlopers? Check out the Non-Native Species Secretariat - their online learning modules cover biosecurity, identification of invasive plants, recording of sightings, and more. You'll need to create an account, but it's all free.

Ready or not
Scheme partner WildFish have released a report detailing why England's water companies are ill-prepared to deal with drought. As the companies publish their five-year plans, the report argues that poor transparency undermines the public's ability to scrutinise them.

Strategic support
The Government has published its updated Environmental Improvement Plan for England, with water getting its own chapter. The plan includes a commitment to support the Chalk Stream Strategy through £1 million of investment in partnership projects each year.
