Riverside Park Open Day 29th August 2019

The South East Rivers Trust (SERT), along with the LFCC and Friends Of The Emm Brook (FOTEB) hosted a small event at Riverside Park on the Emm Brook to promote the works concerning the weir removal on this small stream. The event was open to all residents and members of the public that were in the area at the time. A short demonstration of electro-fishing took place where the fish were transferred to a tank display. The kick sampling demonstration managed to provide a few invertebrates that were also displayed along side the fish. The response to the event was really encouraging with plenty of questions put to the organizers from the members of the public. We did manage to see one of the crayfish actually molt its shell in the display tank. The electro-fishing managed to produce 8 Chub 7-12", 4 Dace 6-8", plus estimates of 1000 + Bullheads, <50 Minnows, <50 Stone Loach and < 25 3-spined Sticklebacks. 7 Signal Crayfish within the 100m survey stretch.A very big thank you to all of those who attended and showed an interest.
