Latest DRAFT Loddon Catchment Implementation Plan (CIP)
The draft Loddon Catchment Implementation Plan is being developed to classify the status of ecology and outline solutions against water management pressures in the Loddon catchment. The aim of the plan is to assist in delivering good ecological status and potential (the latter for Heavily Modified Waterbodies). The ecological status is based on fish, plants, invertebrates and water chemistry. If one fails, they all fail. The Water Framework Directive is a new approach to the management of water looking as it looks at biological, physical and chemical elements together.
An evidence based approach is used to identify if the water is failing, what its failing for e.g. roach, chub, dace and barbel and the solutions needed to be taken to avoid deterioration and improve the ecology.
