DIGLIS WEIR & FISH PASS VISIT

Tuesday May 13th 2025

meet at Diglis 10.30

Through the Canal and Rivers Trust, the LFCC has arranged to visit Diglis Weir and Fish Pass on the River Severn at Worcester. The visit includes viewing of the draindown of the fish pass for cleaning, refilling and then an opportunity to see any fish using the pass in the underwater viewing gallery. Diglis Island and the Diglis Fish Pass are two fascinating visitor destinations, created through the Unlocking the Severn project.

The fish pass is a feat of engineering and one of the four fish passes, created to allow fish to swim around large weirs on the River Severn. The fish pass is 100m long and, at the time of construction, the biggest of its kind in England and Wales. It also has its own underwater viewing gallery, where visitors have the chance to spot different species swimming through the pass.

The visit is likely to take around 3 hours in total, stout footwear is recommended but wellingtons should not be required.

Parking is likely to be available just off Diglis Dock Road adjacent to Diglis Island, courtesy of the Canal and Rivers Trust, further details will be provided.

There are toilets at Diglis Island, but not at Diglis Fish Pass.

There are currently no arrangements for lunch.
